Our History

Building on the diversity and capacity of our own city, WooHealth Hack is a two-day event that will engage 100 Worcester area students from the Academic Health Collaborative of Worcester (AHCW) to design solutions to some of the challenging priorities set by the City of Worcester’s Division of Public Health (WDPH) Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).  

WooHealth Hack 2019 will be the first in an annual competition in which teams of 4-5 students representing different members and partners of the AHCW participate in a two-day innovation and problem-solving exercise around a core health-need for the Worcester population. 

This inaugural WooHealth Hack will be kicked off by Dr. Michael F. Collins, Chancellor of UMass Chan Medical School; Dr. Matilde “Mattie” Castiel, Worcester Commissioner of Public Health and Edward M. Augustus Jr, Worcester City Manager.  Students and faculty from six Worcester colleges and universities are already participating including:  Assumption College, Becker College, College of the Holy Cross, Mass College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS), Worcester State University and the UMass Chan Medical School.
