2024 Boston Marathon team
The 2024 Boston Marathon marked the 13th year of a UMass ALS Cellucci Fund team participating in the event. The team raised more than $100,000. Read bios of the team below.
Katherine Binkoski
Boston
Katherine is running in honor of her mother-in-law who was recently diagnosed with ALS. She describes her mother-in-law as a wonderful wife, mother, sister, friend and grandmother. She wants to complete this feat to let her know how loved and supported she is. This is her first marathon.
Carla Bolduc
Weare, New Hampshire
Carla is a mother of two daughters, cosmetologist and endurance junkie. She is running in memory of her grandmother who lost her battle to ALS in 2001. Her grandmother’s memory is always with her, and her passion is to make a difference against this horrible disease. Carla enjoys hiking New Hampshire 4,000-footer mountains, spending time with friends and family and watching her girls play field hockey. This will be her 12th marathon and first in-person Boston Marathon.
Katie Cahill
West Roxbury, Massachusetts
Katie, who was born and raised in Boston, is a mother of one daughter. She spends the day exploring with her toddler and nights bartending. Her running journey began when her father was diagnosed with ALS earlier this year. Sadly, he passed away on Thanksgiving Day from this horrible disease. This is her first marathon.
Cameron Daly
Dorchester, Massachusetts
Cameron is running in honor of Mathew Hamilton, a beloved friend, father and “all-around amazing man.” Her best friend and college roommate, Emma, is one of Mathew’s daughters. As Mathew continues his battle with this tragic disease, she wants to be able to contribute to raising money to help progress research. This is her first marathon.
Meghan Frazier
Medford, Massachusetts
Meghan is running in honor of her Aunt Betty, her former physical therapist Jake Kennedy and two friends' parents, Ward Smith and James "Jim" Rebello Jr., who were all diagnosed and succumbed to ALS. This will be her fifth marathon and first in-person Boston Marathon.
Gavin Hamilton
Kingston, Massachusetts
Gavin is a software support analyst for Veson Nautical in Boston. He is running in honor of his father, Mathew Hamilton, who was recently diagnosed with ALS. In his spare time, he enjoys exercising and relaxing with friends and family. This is his first marathon.
Erin Mannion
Hudson, Massachusetts
Erin is an outpatient physical therapist. She treats orthopedic injuries as well as specializes in pelvic health, lymphedema and oncology. She is excited to run the marathon and raise funds for ALS research, a cause that is close to her heart after her aunt’s recent diagnosis. In her spare time, she loves to do puzzles, exercise, and spend time with her family and friends. She has a husband and a rescue dog. This will be her first marathon.
Paul McNeil
Worcester, Massachusetts
Paul is close friends with the father of one of Jan and Paul Cellucci’s grandsons, Gabriel. He has run the Boston Marathon seven times for charities; this will be his third time running for the UMass ALS Cellucci Fund team.
Patti Reed Logan
Mansfield, Massachusetts
Patti has four daughters and a golden retriever, Penny. She is a national account executive at Vistar/Performance Food Group. Patti lost her husband, Clint, to a rare neurodegenerative disease. His symptoms traced back six years to when he was initially diagnosed with vascular dementia. With each subsequent year came more misdiagnoses, until he lost his battle in December 2021. In hopes of sparing others and their families from this suffering, Clint’s brain was donated to science. This will be her fifth marathon and fourth Boston Marathon.
Gaby Weilding
Hopkinton, Massachusetts
Gaby is a patient care assistant at UMass Memorial Medical Center. Growing up in Hopkinton, the town of the starting line, it has always been her dream to run the Boston Marathon. She has been fundraising for ALS research since she was a child. She has been a runner her whole life and played soccer in college. This is her first marathon.
