Elective Description:
The goal of the renal elective is to engage the student with the basic principles of renal pathophysiology and immunopathology by exposure to a diverse, high volume nephrology service. The student will learn the management of common renal diseases, fluid-electrolyte and acid-base disturbances and hypertension. The nephrology service is divided into three units; consultative, end-stage renal disease, and transplantation. The student will have an opportunity to rotate among these units on both the in-patient and out-patient services. |
