Elective Description: This two-week experience includes clinical time at subacute facilities, long term care facilities and outpatient sites. Students will participate in a core curriculum lecture series provided by the faculty. Students will participate in home visits with geriatric nurse practitioners and geriatricians. Site visits to adult day health and social day care are also made. Students will become familiar with performing functional assessments and evaluating older adults in a comprehensive fashion including medical, psychosocial, rehabilitation and ethical issues. Other experiences of interest to the student can be arranged on an individual basis. | |
