Deaf YES! Center Researcher Alex Wilkins, PhD, awarded the K23 Grant from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism

UMass Chan Postdoctoral Fellow, and DeafYES! Center researcher Alex Wilkins, Ph.D. has been awarded the K23 Grant from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. The K23 is a mentored patient-oriented research career development award designed to support the career development of individuals with a clinical doctoral degree, who have the potential to develop into productive, clinical investigators, and who have made a commitment to focus their research endeavors on patient-oriented research.

As the principal investigator (PI) for the “Designing Deaf-MET: A Deaf-Accessible Pre-Treatment for Alcohol Use Disorder”, this grant will launch Alex into a faculty role at iSPARC within the Department of Psychiatry at the UMass Chan Medical School and will support his development as a clinical researcher over the next five years.
