Jaime Rivera |
EducationJaime Rivera received his B.Sc. in Biology from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, in Monterrey, México in 1990. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Houston in 1997 under the direction of Richard Behringer. He then pursued his post-doctoral training with Terry Magnuson first at Case Western Reserve University and later at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He joined the faculty of the Department of Cell Biology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in August 2006. |

Sakthi SundararajanSakthi Sundararajan is a Research Associate originally from Tamil Nadu state in India. She has a Bachelor degree in Zoology and a Masters degree in Microbiology from Bharathidasan University at Tiruchirapalli, India. She has been a member of the Rivera lab since its inception in 2006. Sakthi enjoys hunkering in a corner to read whenever her family duties allow. She is partial to Harry Potter and other fiction books. |

Tingting HuangTingting is a graduate student originally from Wuhan, China. She entered the graduate school in 2006 and joined the Rivera lab in 2007. She received her B.Sc. in Life Sciences from Fudan University in Shanghai. When not in the lab, Tingting is traveling or staying healthy doing yoga. |

Giovane TorteloteGiovane hails from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He earned his Masters Degree in Biophysics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2004. When not working in the lab, Giovane likes to play soccer and enjoys going out with friends. He is also a brown belt Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert (a submission-based martial art). Research project: Giovane studies the role of Wnt3, a secreted protein, in axial development. |

Yeonsoo YoonYeonsoo studied Biochemistry at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. In 2005, he earned a master’s degree in Biological Science from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Daejeon also in South Korea. He joined the Rivera lab in 2007. Yeonsoo likes to watch movies and baseball games. He also likes to play basketball and enjoys taking pictures of everything around him. |

Kristina GonzalezKristina joined the Rivera lab as a Post-doctoral fellow in 2010. She earned a B.S. in Biology from Worcester State College in 2004, and, her Ph. D. from Clark University in 2009 under the guidance of Dr. Linda Kennedy. Kristina was born in Michigan and has lived around the world as a military wife. In 2001 she settled with her family in Massachusetts. She has a daughter and a son and enjoys scrapbooking and tejano music. |

Ok Hyun ChoOk Hyun is a joint Post-doctoral fellow of the Rivera and Imbalzano labs. She is a native of South Korea. She received a Ph. D. degree in immunology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst where she trained with Dr. Barbara Osborne. She enjoys playing with children, laughing out loud and shopping, shopping and shopping. |

Elise McDevittElise is a Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) graduate who conducted research in the Rivera lab between the summer of 2007 and spring of 2008 as part of her major qualifying project at WPI. She currently lives in Pomona, California and attends Western University of Health Sciences, where she is pursuing a D.V. M. She says: “...having a strong foundation in embryology has helped me considerably!” |

Adrian Cora-MongesAdrian visited from the University of Puerto Rico as part of the UMass NIH Summer Fellowship Program during the summer of 2007. He remains at the University of Puerto Rico pursuing a M. D. degree. |

Ariel JamesAriel was welcomed to the lab during the summer of 2008 as part of the UMass NIH Summer Fellowship Program. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Norfolk State University in 2009. Way to go Ariel! She is now pursuing a M. D. degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. |
