Dr's. Hussain and Makris travel to Liberia for voluntary work
Date Posted: jueves, noviembre 05, 2015Through the office of Global Health and supported by Academic Consortium Combating Ebola in Liberia (ACCEL) grant from Paul G. Allen foundation, Dr's. Hussain and Makris each spent two weeks in Liberia teaching residents and consultants. They supervised, taught, and conducted diagnostic ultrasound studies on inpatients, emergency department, ICU, CCU and NICU patients at the JFK Memorial teaching Hospital in Monrovia. Dr. Makris also taught 1st year medical students in anatomy at the A.M. Dogliotti School of Medicine. During this visit Dr. Hussain presented, to the Minister of health Republic of Liberia, Dr. Bernice Dhan, a proposal to establish a Liberia National Imaging and Diagnostic Center. This proposal was accepted by the Government of Liberia. Planning is due to start soon.

Dr. Hussain was the chief guest and key-note speaker at the Interventional Radiology Society of Pakistan. The conference was held in Lahore on Oct 10, 2015.
At this address Dr. Hussain launched a beginning of "Hand Book of Interventional Radiology for the Developing World”
and funded a prize for innovation in consumable design in Interventional Radiology.
