Letter from the Chair

June brings us to the close of the 2014-15 “academic year” with numerous transitions. Our current residents and fellows will be moving onto new positions, either for additional training, faculty appointments or clinical practice, and we will be welcoming our new class of Residents and Fellows. In addition, we say good-bye to two of our “night” ED Radiologists, Dr. Morris Hayim and Dr. Gabe Schneider. Morris has moved to New York to be closer to his family and Gabe will be getting married, and has move to Washington DC. Over the summer / early fall, we will welcome new faculty to the VIR, NIR, Breast, Chest, ED, and Abdomen divisions. With all these transitions, it’s with great pleasure that we also recognize 40 members of the department celebrating their 5 – 35 year “5 year anniversaries” as members of UMass Memorial:  http://www.umassmed.edu/radiology/radnews/new-page/June/recognition-of-service/ with special recognition of our 35 year anniversary celebrants: Wendy Davis, Marian Lawson, Lisa Towle, Elizabeth Richard, and Marcia Amaral. Our department would not have been able to achieve what we have without the long term commitments of our faculty and staff; while the constant flow of residents and fellows keeps us all young.
