Dr. Etta Pisano, our Eighth Annual Edward Smith Lecture Speaker
Date Posted: martes, junio 02, 2015Dr. Etta Pisano, Dean Emerita and Distinguished University Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Bioengineering at Clemson University College of Engineering and Science, will deliver the Eighth Annual Edward Smith Lecture entitled: "Finding fulfillment outside the reading room- Lessons from my Career as an Academic Radiologist".
A graduate of Dartmouth College and Duke University School of Medicine, Dr. Pisano completed her Radiology training at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, MA. A world-renowned leader in the evaluation of new breast imaging techniques, Dr. Pisano has served as Principle Investigator of the American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) Digital Mammography Screening Trial (DMIST), and is the current lead clinical investigator for the Breast Cancer Foundation of Canada’s Randomized Clinical Trial of Tomosynthesis vs. Digital Mammography (Lead-in study to ACRIN’s TMIST) at four sites in the US and Canada. The PI of 33 clinical trials, Dr. Pisano was the PI (and director) of the Clinical Translation Science Award (CTSA) at the University of North Carolina, as well as serving in numerous senior administrative roles at UNC including Section Chief for Breast Imaging, and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs.
This years Edward Smith Lecture will be held Thursday, June 18th at 4:00 pm in the Radiology Conference Room S2-819.
