NAME(S): Joi    Area: Nuclear Medicine - University

What is the problem/waste? There is not an area for outpatients to hang jackets/clothing in the cardiac suite at University

Why is this happening? No hooks.

Idea: Submitted request to facilities to install hooks. Hooks were installed on wall in H2-374 for patient belongings

NAME(S): George   Area: Nuclear Medicine - University

What is the problem/waste? No pants/bottoms available for patients if they are incontinent or soil themselves

Idea: George contacted hospital linen dept. and requested to stock 4 pair of johnny bottoms on our linen cart.

What is the problem/waste? Ordering supplies unnecessarily

Idea: Created a excel spreadsheet of what needs to be ordered on a monthly basis and ordering only once a month. Assigned specific people to ordering along with back up staff.

What is the problem/waste? Patients arrive with jewelry and clothing from ED

Idea: Ordered a stamp to "remove jewelry and clothing" to stamp onto ED transporters labels so tht when the go get a patient is reminds the nurse to do just that.

NAME(S): Ginny  Area: Mammography

What is the problem/waste?  Patients stating they did not receive appointment location change

Why was this happening? Letters had to be manually printed, which was not done on a few occasions. Patients did not know about changes to appointment locations.

Idea: Letters will now  print automatically everyday from PACS at a specific time to ensure they are done and sent out in a timely manner.

What is the problem/waste?  Unclear about Downtime procedures.

Idea: Created a "downtime book" for each mammo department. Includes all necessary paperwork and directions on how to maintain a workflow during downtime.

NAME(S): Linda  Area: Diagnostic - Hahnemann

What is the problem/waste? Technologist work area phone not accessible.

Idea: Phone was not in a location easy enough to reach. Had it moved from one side of the room to the other and had it hung on the wall to make it easier to reach.

What is the problem/waste? Staff not available to attend in-services.

Idea: Requested to have some in-services video taped and put on e-learning to ensure staff are being educated on what is going on in the department.

What is the problem/waste?  No scanner at front desk to complete patients paperwork

Idea: Installed a scanner at the front desk to facilitate completion of paperwork rather than going to another area or passing the paperwork off to another employee. It also reduces the risk of losing the paperwork due to passing it off.

What is the problem/waste? Patients present to the department anxious and get lightheaded during exam

Idea: Monthly we will purchase juice and crackers in Shrewsbury to offer to our patients that are feeling lightheaded or nauseous.

NAME(S): Sandy J, Sandy Mc & Ginny   Area: Mammography - University

What is the problem/waste? Team mammo patients exam process not defined clearly. Having to redo the work that was already done because of lack of proper docuementation

Idea: A Team Mammo Form was created to ensure that the physician that decided what work up the patient needed is done even if they are not available. Decreased patient wait time and everyone is aware of what the patient needs to have imaged and why.
