Letter from the Chair

Dear All,

As summer winds down our August newsletter highlights a wide variety of accomplishments, projects and collaborations. Two Radiology faculty (Dr. Makris and Giannaris) will be taking on additional leadership roles in the medical school, and Dr. Ajit Puri has been promoted to an Associate Professor. This summer we have had several college students working in the department and two UMass Chan students, Elizabeth Yuan and Sam Carley have been involved in projects spanning global radiology to curriculum development. Dr. Hesham Malik joined the ranks of UMMMC’s Quality Scholar Program graduates, and Doreen Borezo has been “recruited” away from Radiology to serve as a financial administrator for the newly-formed Administrative Service’s Group.  The Epic transition team has not had any breaks this summer – links to the monthly Epic updates can be found in the newsletter, along with the first AGFA update, the return of case of the month, the monthly list of new publications from faculty and trainees, summer social event highlights, and a feature article on process improvement in breast imaging with the implementation of a paperless workflow.
