Gregory DiGirolamo, PhD
Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Radiology Director, Subdivision of Addiction Research |
Gregg DiGirolamo, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the College of the Holy Cross, and Associate Professor of Radiology and Psychiatry at UMass Chan Medical School.
Research Interest
Dr. DiGirolamo’s research interest is investigating the cognitive and neural mechanisms of unconscious processes and how they drive people’s behavior. Within addiction research, we investigate how control over behavior breaks down during the progression to addiction, how to augment control during treatment, and how breakdowns in control lead to relapse. We are also interested in understanding the underlying neural areas involved in control, and how different medications or therapies improve control and increase activity in the neural areas involved in control in patients with addiction.
