Diversity and Inclusion in the Community

Dr. Stephenie Lemon and colleagues have been coordinating virtual events featuring medical professionals and community leaders addressing questions and concerns about the COVID-19 vaccine. Webinars and advertisements in multiple languages are helping our community neighbors make informed decisions.

Minjin Kim, former UMass Chan postdoc shared an article featured in the UC College of Nursing Summer Magazine titled "Voices against Racism and Stigma". Click here to read the article.
Minjin shared a link to our Science Participation Resource Center (SPRC) in the article. SPRC was established under the UMass Center for Clinical and Translational Science (UMCCTS) with a four-year grant from the NIH.
The mission of the SPRC is to increase engagement of special populations in applying medical research in real settings through tailored, culturally responsive strategies. We define special populations as those under-represented in translational research because of age (i.e., pediatrics, geriatrics), race/ethnicity, low socioeconomic status, geographic location (rural or urban), or being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender (LGBT).
