In 2018, the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at UMass Chan started the first newly ACGME-approved Ophthalmology Residency Program in nearly two decades.

“The mission of the UMass Ophthalmology Residency Program is to train diverse, innovative and problem-solving clinicians, educators, scholars and leaders in a supportive, scholarly and collegial environment.

As a program, we stand committed to offer access, inclusion, support, and advancement to candidates from diverse backgrounds, who are resilient, motivated, and critical-thinkers.

Our program is set to prepare our graduates to become the next generation of academic ophthalmologists, to value evolving knowledge, scholarship, innovation, tolerance, open-mindedness, continuous learning, compassion and the ethical practice of medicine.”

All applications must be sent through San Francisco Match by the Friday before Labor Day.
