Carolyn S. Langer, MD, MPH, JD, director of UMass Medical School’s Office of Clinical Affairs and associate professor of family medicine & community health, has received the Leadership Award in Public Health Practice from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. The award was presented during alumni weekend festivities on Sept. 24.
Dr. Langer leads the Office of Clinical Affairs, a unit of UMass Medical School’s Commonwealth Medicine division that provides clinical leadership and management functions to MassHealth, Massachusetts’ Medicaid program. In this role, Langer serves as medical director for MassHealth and is responsible for the medical management of all health care services provided by MassHealth to its members.
She holds faculty positions at the Harvard School of Public Health and the Tufts University School of Medicine.
Langer received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and her master’s in public health as well as her law degree from Harvard University. Langer also is board-certified in occupational medicine.
