Due to the ground conditions and snow piles that still cover so much of the ground in the Worcester area, the date of the Working for Worcester volunteer initiative has been changed to Saturday, April 25.
UMass Medical School is joining other local institutions in supporting Working for Worcester (W4W), a one-day volunteer initiative organized and led by students from Worcester’s colleges and universities to make a lasting impact on Worcester youth. W4W volunteers renovate parks, playgrounds, school facilities and other community recreation areas to provide safe, accessible recreational opportunities for local kids. Founded three years ago by students from the College of the Holy Cross, W4W has engaged an impressive number of volunteers—500 in its first year and more than one thousand in 2014.
This year, the goal is to engage 1,500 volunteers at 16 sites across Worcester on Saturday, April 25. In addition to a large number of students, participants include employees of area colleges and universities and other local institutions, side by side with neighborhood residents.
All interested members of the UMMS community—faculty, staff and students—are welcome to participate and can sign up directly using this form.
