Nature photographer Scott Erskine returns to the Lamar Soutter Library for the second time as Artist in Residence with his new exhibit “The Acadia Project,” which will be on display in the library from Monday, March 2 through Thursday, April 30.
Formerly an IT specialist for UMass Memorial Health Care, Erskine now works in Bar Harbor, Maine, where nearby Acadia National Park provided the subject matter for the current exhibit.
“It is my favorite national park,” he said. “I hope these images convey the deep love I have for this place.”
His first Artist in Residence exhibit “Embracing Light” was in early 2014.
“I would like the viewer to feel that they could step into the photograph and see what I was experiencing when the photograph was made,” said Erskine, whose work is strongly influenced by iconic American landscape photographers Ansel Adams, Elliot Porter, David Muench and William Neill.
An artist’s reception will be held Thursday, March 5, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the library. Contact nancy.linnehan@umassmed.edu for additional information.
