Paulo N. Martins, MD, PhD, assistant professor of surgery, was chosen by the Foundation of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons to receive the 2015 ASTS Vanguard Prize for his paper “Injury of Peribiliary Glands and Vascular Plexus Before Liver Transplantation Predicts Formation of Non-anastomotic Biliary Strictures.”
The award was established by the ASTS to recognize and honor outstanding contributions by its junior members for best papers published within the preceding 18 months. The award will be formally presented to Dr. Martins at the ASTS 15th Winter Symposium in January.
