Kathleen Miller, EdD, ECNP-BC, FAANP, FAAN, professor of nursing, and Karen Lee Dick, PhD, GNP-BC, FAANP, associate professor of nursing, were inducted into the National Academies of Practice (NAP) as distinguished practitioners in nursing. They were elected by their peers, who represent 10 different health professions, to join this interprofessional group of health care practitioners and scholars dedicated to supporting affordable, accessible, coordinated, quality health care.
Dr. Miller is the associate dean for advanced practice programs. She oversees the Geriatric Nursing Initiatives of the Graduate School of Nursing and is co-principal investigator of the Rosalie Wolf Geriatric Interdisciplinary Health Care Research Center.
Dr. Dick is the 2013 recipient of the State Award for Excellence from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has had a long career caring for older adults as a gerontological nurse practitioner and maintains a clinical practice through Hebrew Senior Life in Boston.
NAP is a non-profit organization founded in 1981 to advise governmental bodies on the health care system. Its goals are to promote affordable, accessible, coordinated quality health care; health care that includes prevention as a core strategy; and health care that encompasses physical, behavioral and social health.
