Health Law Advocates is an organization that has helped thousands of the commonwealth’s most needy residents access adequate health care, Commonwealth Medicine Executive Vice Chancellor Joyce A. Murphy, MPA, told a crowd gathered at the nonprofit’s18th Annual Benefit Breakfast at the Sheraton Boston Hotel on Nov. 13.
“We believe in what HLA stands for, that even if someone cannot make ends meet, he or she still should get needed health care,” said Murphy, who served as co-chair of the breakfast along with Paul Barrett, co-founding partner of the Boston law firm Donoghue Barrett & Singal. “I’m proud to be a part of the HLA family with all of you, and I am truly grateful to you for making this year’s breakfast such a huge success.”
HLA Executive Director Matt Selig thanked Murphy and Barrett for their commitment as co-chairs, roles with a responsibility that lasted six months. “They have been absolutely spectacular and they are great leaders in the health care industry,” he said.
The breakfast is HLA’s primary source of financial support, enabling the non-profit to help more than 10,000 families and individuals gain access to health care. Boston-bred novelist Dennis Lehane was the featured speaker.
