The Angel Fund visits Neurology to learn about the advancements in ALS research.

The Angel Fund for ALS Research supports scientific investigation and research at UMass Chan Medical School. Our team shared research updates with the Angel Fund Board of Directors during their recent visit to learn about research updates and tour our labs. After the presentations, an insightful questions and answers session was held. A special thank you was shared by The Angel Fund to our team for their hard work and dedication to research.

The research updates provided focused on people. "We start with people because we care about people," Robert Brown shared over our discovery cycle model. Much was discussed regarding genetics and biology, genome sequencing, citrullination and the impact on protein function, identifying proteins in moulation, how proteins respond to cell stress, long-term consequences of brain injury, ALS clusters such as sporadic ALS, or based on environmental factors. 

"ALS is not an incurable disease, it is an underfunded disease," John Landers shared.
