Uzair Khalid, MD

Uzair Ali Khalid, MD, is completing the Neurocritical Care Fellowship Program in the Department of Neurology. Originally from Islamabad Pakistan, he completed his medical school training at Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. During these studies, he had the opportunity to study abroad and attended Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, for three months, taking courses in nephrology and neurology. Uzair joined UMass Chan six years ago starting in the Neurology Residency Program. He shares, “I have experienced immense personal and professional growth during my six years at UMass. I have progressed from being an eager but naive medical student to a confident, knowledgeable and skilled physician in one of the most advanced healthcare systems in the world. I owe this development to all my extremely learned, patient and kind teachers and mentors at UMass, who provided me with a wonderful learning environment, the utmost support and appropriate feedback.” 

Uzair’s research and clinical interests focus on traumatic brain and spinal cord injury, intracranial hemorrhage, stroke and status epilepticus. He will have the chance to advance in these areas at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, a federally designated underserved area. There, he will help set up a 26-bed cardiac and neuro ICU, as well as help the facility achieve its goal of becoming a comprehensive stroke center.
