Muhammad Khurram Afzal, MD
Vascular Neurology Fellowship Program
M. Khurram Afzal, MD, is a graduating vascular neurology fellow at UMass Chan in the Department of Neurology. Originating from Karachi, Pakistan, he attended medical school at Ziauddin Medical College before moving to the United States to participate in the Saint Louis University School of Medicine Residency program.
Dr. Afzal shares his professional growths stating, “I have been able to receive excellent mentorship from the all-star faculty in the UMass Chan, Vascular Neurology Department. Exposure to an extensively diverse population has prepared me for my next steps both in terms of population interacted with and pathology encountered.”
Dr. Afzal is joining the vascular neurology team at Christiana Care Hospital in Newark, Delaware as an assistant professor of neurology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University. He plans to continue focusing his clinical interests in Intracerebral Hemorrhage and Mobile Stroke Units.
