Macy Initiative in Health Communication
Leadership
Since the initiation of the Macy Project at UMass, strong institutional leadership has been provided by Aaron Lazare, MD, Chancellor/Dean and Macy Initiative Principal Investigator, in collaboration with Michele Pugnaire, MD, Vice Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education and Macy Project Director. An organizational infrastructure was developed to support the UMass Macy Initiative, including formation of a Steering Committee, Executive Committee, Advisory Committee, Resource Group, and several working groups, including Undergraduate Curriculum Development, Graduate Medical Education, Faculty Development, and Evaluation. The project's full-time administrator, Emily Ferrara, MA, manages the day-to-day operations of the grant, with support from full-time administrative assistant Fernanda Gama.
