Lillian R. Goodman Lecture

The Lillian R. Goodman Lecture was established in honor of Dr. Lillian R. Goodman, a pioneer and passionate advocate of nursing education. The goal of the Lecture is to bring a nationally recognized nursing leader and researcher to the Central Massachusetts nursing community. Contact Hours will be offered.

  • Listing of Recent Faculty Publications: Access to a comprehensive reference list of peer-reviewed publications covering a wide range of nursing topics within the recent academic year.
  • Research Opportunities: Explore opportunities to participate in groundbreaking research projects. Whether you're looking to contribute to a study or seek funding for your own research/scholarship, we provide the support and resources you need. The Dean Seed Grant is specifically designed to provide Tan Chingfen GSN junior faculty to launch their research/scholarship.

Example of websites to assist in exploring external funding opportunities:

  • Guidance and Support:  From brainstorming a research/scholarship idea to disseminating the findings, we provide personalized support and encouragement throughout your scholastic journey. Here are examples of support offered:
    • Keeping faculty informed about available research grants, fellowships, and funding sources
    •  Providing one-on-one assistance for writing successful grant proposals and manuscripts
    • Managing and distributing internal research funds
    • Assisting with administrative aspects of research including compliance with institutional policies, IRB submissions, and reporting requirements
    • Facilitating connections between researchers within the institution and with external partners to promote interdisciplinary research
    • Providing mentorship to junior faculty to enhance their research/scholarship skills on topics like data analysis, research methodologies, and effective communication of findings 
    • Enhancing visibility and impact of faculty research and scholarship through institutional websites and social media

Dr. Aronowitz is a Professor and Associate Dean of Research & Innovation at the Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing at UMass Chan Medical School and is per diem at Boston University as a Nurse Practitioner in Student Health. Dr. Aronowitz’ seminal contribution has been to advance the science of evidence-based care for sexual health promotion and healthy adolescent development. Dr. Aronowitz has completed dozens CBPR mixed methods studies with African American, Asian American, Native American families to promote health adolescent development free of negative risk behaviors. She has been consistently funded for the past decade currently through the MA Department of Public Health. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.
