Former Students of the DSB Summer Research Program

"I was motivated to join this program because this research-intensive opportunity complements my undergraduate coursework and prepares me for future studies."

Working in the Walhout Lab

"I was first exposed to biological research last year as part of another research program where I worked in Dr. Brewster’s lab. My experience in this lab was transformative, as it not only deepened my understanding of biology but also introduced me to the intersection of math, physics, and coding, and how these diverse fields come together to solve complex biological questions. I wanted to build on my work from last year and delve deeper into quantitative biology research which led me to join DSB SRPQB where I can continue to expand my skills and explore new challenges in research."

I will be a junior in chemical engineering this fall. I wanted to join this DSB summer research program to explore how biology and human health intersect with other fields of science such as chemistry, physics, and math, to develop a more well-rounded approach to engineering problems that takes these health impacts into consideration along with the other calculations that we do.
