Our Vision

About the Duchenne Program

The Duchenne Program at UMass Chan Medical School uniquely brings cutting-edge research and patient-centered clinical care together to extend and enhance the lives of people with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Our mission is to deliver the highest quality, most comprehensive care available to the Duchenne community while urgently advancing clinical trials for new therapies—ultimately, improving outcomes for those living with Duchenne.

Founding clinic director Dr. Brenda Wong, UMass Chan Medical School, UMass Memorial Medical Center, and patient-founded research organization Charley’s Fund work jointly to ensure that the Duchenne Program — the only dedicated Duchenne clinic in the Northeast — delivers world-class results on three key goals:

  • Deliver comprehensive, integrated care
  • Host cutting-edge clinical trials
  • Drive original research and discoveries to power the next wave of breakthroughs
