Chancellor Collins to donors: Together, we’re on a course for bold, transformational impact
At UMass Chan Medical School, we are striving to achieve our most ambitious future. The citizens of Massachusetts—and people across the globe—rely on UMass Chan to be a world-class academic health sciences center training the next generation of biomedical science and healing professionals dedicated to transforming health care.
As a donor and partner, you are with us on this momentous journey, emboldening our role as current stewards of the public medical school of the commonwealth. Fully realizing our boundless potential requires significant, ongoing philanthropic investment. Our current comprehensive campaign, Advancing Together: The Campaign for UMass Chan, surpassed $400 million this summer, with the goal of $500 million by June 30, 2026 within sight.
This means that we are successfully attracting the resources required to advance our vision to be a leading-edge medical school of the future. Amid critical shortages in the health care workforce, we are educating more learners than ever before and are a national leader in primary care education, ranked #1 of all medical schools in the Northeast. Our strategy to increase access to health care includes a new regional campus at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, where the enthusiasm of learners, faculty and the philanthropic community is truly inspiring.
In June, we celebrated the opening of our new education and research building—delivered on-time and on-budget—at a special ceremony featuring World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, PhD. This project was historic in scope, size and significance, resulting in a towering, gleaming hub of innovation where some of the greatest minds in science collaborate to change the course of the history of disease.
To our faithful friends and supporters in this transformational work, we extend our most sincere gratitude and remind you that, at UMass Chan, we’re just getting started. With your support, fiscal year 2025 is off to an incredible start. We hope you will stay with us as we charge full speed ahead into a future driven by seriousness of purpose and soaring possibility.
With appreciation,
Michael F. Collins, MD, FACP
Senior Vice President for the Health Sciences, University of Massachusetts
Chancellor, UMass Chan Medical School
