The Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program is a one-year, ACGME-accredited training program designed to prepare the fellow for the practice of high quality interventional cardiovascular medicine and for the specialty boards. Qualified candidates who have completed three years of cardiology fellowship will be considered for the program.

UMass boasts one of the highest volume interventional cardiology programs in New England, encompassing high acuity PCI along with structural and peripheral vascular interventions. Six full-time faculty interventional cardiologists offer a wide range of clinical and research interests. An active transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) program performs procedures regularly in a hybrid operating room environment. Because the interventional fellowship is deliberately kept small (2 interventional fellows per year), each fellow should expect to complete a high volume of procedures as primary operator and receive personalized mentoring that is helpful for both clinical and academic goals.

All interventional fellows participate in Interventional Cardiology and Heart and Vascular Center conferences, teaching of junior cardiology fellows, outpatient continuity clinic, and ongoing clinical research trials in the UMass Memorial Catheterization Laboratory.
