Research Focus - Development of Persuasive Digital Technology (eHealth and mHealth) to Help Patients and Clinicians Better Work Together Toward Improving Health and Well-being
- Development of technological innovations in tailored and motivational messaging systems to promote smoking cessation
- Development of innovations to increase access to smoking cessation interventions including electronic referral systems to facilitate providers to refer smokers to tobacco interventions, and peer recruitment approaches on social media to motivate smokers to recruit their friends and family to tobacco interventions
- Expanding tobacco focused research to apply digital technology to support high risk populations (socio-economically disadvantaged, minorities, and smokers with serious mental health conditions).
- Expanding digital technology to other research areas, including vaping among adolescents, increasing physical activity among cancer survivors, and teaching weight management counseling to medical residents
