The Department of Anesthesiology & Perioperative Medicine with its clinical partner UMass Memorial Health has a clinical platform that is fully integrated across the Medical Center, in addition to serving UMass Memorial Health Marlborough Hospital and The Surgery Center at Shrewsbury. Our clinicians cover approximately 70 anesthetizing sites daily and conduct more than 60,000 anesthetics for surgical and procedural care annually. As the only Level l trauma center and tertiary care academic health sciences center in Central Massachusetts, UMass Memorial Health offers a comprehensive range of clinical services.

Additionally, our team delivers surgical and medical critical care at UMass Memorial Health covering two surgical ICUs, one mixed medical/surgical ICU and the nationally acclaimed eICU telemedicine program. The department also plays a leading role in the coordination of critical care services throughout the institution. Our physicians in the Division of Pain Medicine staff interventional pain clinics at the UMass Memorial Medical Center Memorial Campus, and UMass Memorial HealthAlliance hospitals, with near-term plans for expansion into additional clinic space in the region.
