The Advanced MRI Center is in the Medical School, Room SA-107L
The Advanced MRI Center is a research core facility providing the latest magnetic resonance imaging and spectroscopy capabilities to scientists and clinicians. It is located in the lower level of the Medical School (SA-107). The facility is equipped with a Philip’s Ingenia CX dStream 3.0T system and a Bruker BioSpec 70/30 (i.e. 7T, 30 cm bore) USR horizontal bore MR system.
The 3.0T Philips whole body scanner can be used to elucidate functional, physiological and biochemical information in all organs of the human body. This enables researchers to better understand the mechanisms of diseases such as lung and heart disease, cancer, stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, back pain and injuries, autism, Alzheimer’s disease, bipolar disease and depression. This facilitates the development of new therapies that can be safely and continuously evaluated throughout patient treatment.
BioSpec 70/30 MRI scanner is a multipurpose high field MR scanner for both MR imaging and spectroscopy with preclinical, pharmaceutical, fundamental research and material science applications. It comes with a series of application-optimized RF-coils for head, brain, cardio, abdomen, spine, and arterial spin labeling for mice and rats, as well as RF-coils for non-proton applications.
In addition, the center has a RF coil lab, a nurses’ station, two patient holding rooms, two patient changing rooms with lockers.
