Promoting Young Adult Success in School & Work - Free Training for Providers

Promoting Young Adult Success in School and Work is a free online and interactive resource that aims to inspire and support those who work with and care about young adults with mental health conditions as they pursue career ambitions. This program is part of the 2019-2024 Learning & Working RRTC, funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR).


female boss with female employee in front of a computerThe training consists of two courses “Engaging Young Adults in Work and School” and “Work and School Resources for (You)ng Adults.”

  • The courses offer a combination of resources: interactive elements as well as videos, webinars, podcasts, informational tip sheets, worksheets, and interviews with YA's and providers.
  • The courses are self-guided to complete at your own pace. You can test your knowledge, earn badges, and even get a Certificate of Participation.
  • Course materials are downloadable to use as a resource when working with young adults.

1. Engaging Young Adults in Work and School: provides key information and resources related to the importance of engaging young adults in work and school endeavors, strategies for doing this important work, and an inside look into programs that are supporting young adults in transitioning.

2. Work and School Resources for (You)ng Adults: features 3 modules of mixed-media, young adult-friendly resources that will support providers in their work, and young adults in their pursuit of a meaningful vocational life. Service providers receive specific resources for their work, including instructional videos and worksheets that can help you support young adult career development.

  • Service providers, young adults, family members, peer supporters, employers, and anyone interested in supporting the vocational development of young adults with mental health conditions.
