Medical Student Education
The Division of Undergraduate Education is committed to providing a complete learning experience for medical students. The knowledge of life supportive measures as well as the recognition and management of common medical emergencies are fundamental for all health care providers. Emergency Medicine faculty are committed to these priorities by providing instruction through lectures, workshops and bedside teaching. Based at suburban and Level I Trauma centers, our EDs have care areas that include urgent, nonurgent, trauma and observational units providing care to more than 135,000 patients per year.
In addition to formal electives, the division supports the Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) activities, career guidance and support by acting as individual advisors and preceptors.

BOLD-EM Elective for Diverse Students:
Building on Leadership and Diversity in Emergency Medicine: July 8-August 2nd 2024
Open to UMass Chan and visiting students from diverse backgrounds, this 4-week intensive summer program introduces students to the different facets of emergency medicine and primes them for a future career in emergency medicine leadership through shadowing, mentorship, and experiential learning.
