BOLD-EM Elective

Building on Leadership and Diversity in Emergency Medicine: July 5-28th, 2023

Open to UMass Chan and visiting students from diverse backgrounds, this 4-week intensive summer program introduces students to the different facets of Emergency Medicine and primes them for future leadership through shadowing, mentorship, and experiential learning.

We encourage first-year medical students motivated to pursue EM as a potential career path to apply. The program includes a $1,500 stipend.

The Program: A combination of didactic and clinical training will provide you with experience in different aspects of emergency medicine.

• Success in EM Panel Series: A weekly discussion focusing on tips and skills you will need to succeed.
• Workshops: Weekly workshops to expose you to different niches in emergency medicine.
• Shadowing: Weekly shadow shifts in the ED to see clinicians in action.
• Simulation: Procedure training and simulation scenarios in our state-of-the-art simulation lab.
• A Project: You will be paired with a physician mentor to work on a project in your area of interest.
