Welcome!
Welcome to the CUIDAMOS Research Group, where we focus on Health Care and Multiple Chronic Conditions in Older Adults with Cancer. Our research aims to inform health programs that can reduce disparities, particularly among Hispanic adults. We explore various cancer types, including colorectal cancer, multiple myeloma, and HPV-related cancers, and investigate the impact of multiple chronic conditions (e.g., ADRD) on cancer care across the continuum. Utilizing secondary data analysis, advanced statistical methods, and qualitative research, we significantly contribute to understanding cancer health disparities and improving cancer care. We're also interested in intersectionality, examining how factors such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and gender intersect influence cancer outcomes. Our broader research agenda involves addressing disparities in cancer outcomes, investigating the influence of multiple chronic conditions on cancer screening and treatment decisions among underserved populations, integrating quantitative and qualitative methods, and utilizing cancer registry data merged with claims data and publicly available datasets. Through our multifaceted approach, we aim to ensure evidence-based care for individuals with complex health profiles, thereby contributing to cancer control efforts across the continuum of care.
