UMass Chan Guidelines for Employee Return to Campus
Future of campus operations
May 28, 2021
As you heard at last week’s UMass Chan Virtual Town Hall meeting, we are encouraged by the downward trend of COVID-19 case numbers in our city, region and state, which has led to changing restrictions in some settings. While this progress is heartening, it is prudent for UMass Chan to continue certain infection control guidelines due to the nature of the work that takes place on our campus, and the fact that not all members of our community are fully vaccinated.
Please take a few minutes to read the following updates about COVID-19 guidance and the plans to return to full campus operations over the summer. Please note that all current budgetary restrictions – including a hiring freeze and ban on the use of school funds for discretionary items such as travel and food – remain in effect until further notice. Read the full update here.

Last modified date: June 22, 2020
The COVID-19 Workforce Safety Working Group provides these guidelines to assist faculty, staff and students (hereafter called “employees”) at the UMass Chan Medical School with a safe transition to the work environment.
The guidelines below are based on best practices in effect as of the date of this document, updated from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other health authorities, and in collaboration with our Infectious Diseases Division, Employee Health Services (EHS) and Student Health Services (SHS). Questions about these guidelines should be directed to our UMass Chan Infection Control Officer at infection.control@umassmed.edu.
