Program Activities
The 1–2-year CODER training program harnesses a vibrant academic environment, highly diverse faculty and trainees, and substantial synergistic programs, infrastructure, and resources. The program is designed to maximize our trainees’ abilities to succeed in their paths toward becoming independent, innovative digital health researchers of the future.
The CODER training curriculum will provide a career development program for the transdisciplinary training of MDs and PhDs based on active, team-based mentoring combined with didactic coursework. CODER trainees with engage with leaders in adjacent clinical sites to better understand the challenges and opportunities for the application of digital health technologies to improve health.
This training program involves both required and elective didactic experiences, including formal coursework that, when appropriate, may lead to a master’s degree, such as an MSCI (UMass Chan CPHR), or a Master of Public Health, Master’s in Data Science (WPI), and Master’s in Business Administration (predictive analytics in healthcare, MIT). It also features a required mentored research experience under close supervision and professional development opportunities individually tailored to each fellow.
The program features three interconnected thematic cores (machine learning/artificial intelligence, informatics/data science, mobile health/point of care testing) and two cross-cutting conceptual domains (implementation science and health equity).
