Organizations often approach us to help with their unique needs. You may want a tailored course to focus on a specific patient population, or to support the professional development of a specialty discipline. The eventual audience might be behavioral health professionals, physicians, or even students in healthcare professions. Frequently, the organizations who contact us for help are applying for a state or federal grant to fund staff training or build capacity to address a community's need.
After conversations to understand your objectives, budget, and timeline, we are able to develop a proposal for customized training that fits the parameters of the grant. Our proposals might include slices of existing courses, developing a new training program, or adapting an existing course with supplemental interactions either live or virtual. We have a good deal of experience conducting Project ECHO programs and similar virtual discussions that include case presentations with group feedback and learning.
And we are happy to write letters of support for grant submissions for those organizations with whom we work.
We understand local, state, and federal funding agencies and their processes, and CIPC faculty have received grant funding from multiple sources to support clinical and research interests. Daniel Mullin, PsyD, MPH is a Senior Scientist in the National Research Network of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
Daniel Mullin (PI) Title: DATA Waiver Training for Massachusetts Students
CIPC led a working group of faculty and clinicians from the four Massachusetts medical schools to deliver a curriculum for medical students to be able to qualify for their DATA Waiver, allowing them to prescribe medication (buprenorphine) to treat patients with Opioid Use Disorder.
Patient Centered Research Outcomes Institute
Littenberg / Kessler (Primary Investigators) Integrating Behavioral Health into Primary Care for Comorbid Behavioral and Medical Problems (IBH-PC)
The major goal of this award was to determine if increased integration of evidence-supported behavioral health and primary care services, compared to simple co-location of providers, improve patient-centered outcomes in patients with multiple morbidities.
Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation of Massachusetts
Daniel Mullin (PI) Title: Development of a Patient and Family Educational Program for Primary Care of Patients with Opioid Use Disorder
This project funding was to build and pilot an online, free, patient and family engagement and education curriculum focused on the primary care of patients with Opioid Use Disorder.
Mass DPH Bureau of Substance Abuse Services (BSAS)
Office Based Opioid Treatment Funding for Barre Family Health Center will extend current physicians’ capacity to care for additional patients under their DEA X waivers with the hiring of a dedicated Nurse Care Manager. S/He will improve processes for drug screens, pill counts, coordination of care, and managing patient needs between scheduled visits using the Massachusetts Collaborative Care Model OBOT-B.
Jerome Allison (PI) Title: UMass Center for Health Equity Intervention Research (CHEIR)
The purpose of the Center for Health Equity Intervention Research (CHEIR) is to create a home at the University of Massachusetts for translational research related to health disparities. CHEIR will consist of scientific cores and three research projects aimed at eliminating health disparities through culturally-appropriate interventions.

Daniel Mullin (PI) Title: Fostering Effective Integration of Behavioral Health and Primary Care in Massachusetts
This project funded work to demonstrate the advancement of integrated care through the implementation of a scalable, sustainable model of primary care depression care management and tele-psychiatry.
Daniel Mullin (PI) Title: EHR Enhancement and Chronic Disease Registry Formation for Depression Care Management in Primary Care
This project focused on the development of UMass Memorial Medical Center’s capacity to deliver Depression Care Management services supported by registry functions, clinician and staff training, and EHR enhancements.
