Brendan Chisholm serves as vice chancellor for management and chief of staff in the Office of the Chancellor at UMass Chan Medical School. In this role, he is a key member of the chancellor’s senior management team and works closely with the chancellor and other campus leaders to advance the mission and strategic goals of UMass Chan.
Reporting directly to the chancellor, Chisholm assists in the day-to-day management of the UMass Chan enterprise. He oversees and participates in all senior management meetings and facilitates communication among and workflow between the chancellor’s office and key administrative departments and units on campus. Additionally, he serves as the main liaison to the campus vice chancellors and the UMass system office. Among other responsibilities, Chisholm plays an active role in advancing the medical school’s institutional partnerships locally and globally; overseeing all university events taking place during the academic year; and developing and implementing a new strategic direction for UMass Chan and a coordinated life sciences strategy for the UMass system.
Prior to assuming the chief of staff position, Chisholm served as the director of health sciences initiatives at UMass Chan. While in this position, he supported Chancellor Collins in his role as senior vice president for the health sciences and contributed to the development of the first life sciences strategic plan for the UMass system. Chisholm began his tenure with the university on the UMass Boston campus, where he served as special assistant to Chancellor Collins. Before joining UMass, Chisholm worked as a legislative aide at the Massachusetts State House.
Chisholm is a 2003 cum laude graduate of Connecticut College.
