Five applicants were selected based on Point-Of-Care technology that focuses on developing, adapting, or validating novel medical devices that can be rapidly applied to heart, lung, blood, or sleep disorders, with additional interest in projects that incorporate complementary and integrative health approaches. General Prognostics Bloodless Blood Test Study: Continuous bloodless monitoring of vital blood biomarkers for remote chronic disease management
GPx Bloodless Blood Test technology is first being deployed in the remote monitoring service, CardioID, which identifies worsening trends before a HF patient becomes symptomatic, allowing the physician to optimize therapy, stabilize the patient’s condition, and potentially prevent a costly and dangerous hospital readmission. At the core of CardioID, Bloodless Blood Tests leverage AI to calibrate digital biomarkers with blood biomarkers and delivering clinically actionable information about HF patient status on a timely basis without a drop of blood. VoluMetrix: Non-Invasive venous waveform analysis (NIVA) device for detecting congestion in heart failure patients as a surrogate for PCWP
VoluMetrix has developed NIVA, an accurate, easy-to-use, non-invasive device for the detection of congestion in HF patients. NIVA uses novel venous waveform analyses to estimate cardiac filling pressures through pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP) detection and monitoring congestion prior to heart failure symptoms and need for hospitalization. VPG Medical: Video-based detection of AFib
HealthKam AFib is a digital app that acquires the heart rate and cardiac rhythm without saving any personal data. Heart rate measurements are performed using the front-facing camera of mobile devices by detecting subtle changes in the color of your facial skin. These volumetric changes are invisible to the naked eye and occur each time your heart beats. HealthKam Afib works passively, which means patient's cardiac rhythm is analyzed each time they open their mobile device and works while patients are using their device for other purposes than checking their heart. Infrared RX: Diabetic Vascular Disease Test. Non-invasive technology to diagnose peripheral artery disease in diabetes more accurately than standard ankle brachial index testing
Development of a prototype software and hardware solution based on near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) that can accurately, reliably, and quickly diagnose PAD. (Peripheral artery disease) Using a non-invasive light sensor and an automated data acquisition protocol, an untrained operator can determine within 5 minutes if a patient has PAD. Learn more.
Brainstorm Biometrics: Brainstem Monitor for ICU Sleep. Non-invasive real-time sleep monitor for bedside interventions
A non-invasive bedside system that may be used to measure, quantify, and monitor the amount and quality of sleep and rhythm achieved by sedated critically ill patients either on or off a ventilator. This system is based on our patented groundbreaking Ocular micro tremor (OMT) neuroscience which allows us to use one single simple patch sensor strip to provide very accurate real-time bedside actionable sleep data comparable to the best-known standards (EEG).
