Research Focus - Mechanisms of Breast Cancer Risk and Resistance
- Examination of estrogen receptor-dependent R-loops and DNA damage induced by low levels of environmental chemicals in personal care products, stimulating DNA double strand breaks without initiating DNA replication
- Elucidation of interindividual variation in responses to estrogen in rodent mammary and human breast tissues, which are associated with the pathogenic effects of estrogen in a subset of individuals who are susceptible to breast carcinogenesis
- Examination of mechanisms by which hormones regulate p53 activity and stem cells in mammary epithelium
