All postdoctoral associates, regardless of the funding mechanism used to support them, are fully-benefitted employees of UMass Chan Medical School with the same benefits as all other non-faculty, non-unionized staff. Therefore, postdoctoral associates are eligible for UMass Chan Medical School group health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance plans, and more.

Mandatory retirement contributions to the Massachusetts State Employees Retirement System are deducted from each paycheck in lieu of Social Security deductions. However, the entirety of these retirement contributions is returned to any employee who leaves UMass Chan without vesting in the pension system. Vesting requires ten years of full-time employment.
