Director's Welcome

Welcome to the UMass Chan Medical School Anesthesiology Residency Program, located in the heart of Central Massachusetts! A core mission of our department is the growth and development of the learners in our residency program and critical care fellowship into excellent physician anesthesiologist leaders in perioperative medicine. We seek to achieve this mission with a balance of clinical and didactic exposure. Our three main teaching sites are all within 2.5 miles of the main campus and we have additional affiliated sites for senior electives. The didactic experience integrates lectures, PBLDs, case-based learning and journal club, in addition to leveraging a state-of-the-art simulation center to provide a longitudinal simulation and point of care ultrasound curriculum. We are committed to the practice of evidence-based medicine with a focus on patient safety and quality initiatives. Our goal is to train a cohort of compassionate and skilled anesthesiologists who excel in the field, and I am personally grateful to have the opportunity to share with you everything that our program has to offer.
