The AI Assurance Lab @ UMass Chan
This Health AI Assurance Lab initiative aims to ensure that Health AI tools are trustworthy, transparent, and accountable through a collaborative approach which leverages the extensive resources and expertise at UMass Chan Medical School, MITRE, and industry partners.
Key Resources
The Health AI Assurance Lab utilizes four primary assets to develop and evaluate AI models: a research informatics core, physical space and simulation labs, an incubator network, and an AI knowledge base.
- Research Informatics Core - data consultation, integration, analytics.
- Platform for Learning Health System at UMass (PLUM) - coud-based infrastructure enabling secure handling, testing, and continuous monitoring of systems thoughout their lifecycle.
- Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center (M2D2) - physical and digital workspace and laboratories, business planning and IP guidance, access to funding, pitch coaching, and engineering support.
- Interprofessional Center for Experiential Learning and Simulation (iCELS) - a 24,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art simulation space for "human-in-the-loop" testing, replicating healthcare environments and enabling AI-human interface testing and usability assessment.
