Research Informatics Core (RIC)

The Platform for Learning Health System at UMass (PLUM) is a cloud-based infrastructure that enables the secure handling, testing, and continuous monitoring of models throughout their lifecycle.
Interprofessional Center for Experiential Learning and Simulation (iCELS)
This 24,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art simulation space allows "human-in-the-loop" testing, ensuring the safety and efficacy of AI-driven healthcare solutions before deployment. The space is capable of replicating healthcare environments such as clinics and eICU's, enabling AI-human interface evaluations and usability assessments through video recording and virtual reality simulations.
Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center (M2D2)
The M2D2 team provides incubator space, engineering support, IP consultation, prototype development, and business planning to facilitate the refinement of innovative projects. Their physical and digital workspaces, combined with funding access and pitch coaching, help startups and companies develop, test, and bring AI-driven healthcare solutions to the market efficiently.

The Department of Medicine has 16 Divisions and over 370 faculty members, advancing innovative disease prevention and treatment through programs like Digital Medicine. Leader in wearable device technology research and advocate for validation and assurance standards of Health AI systems.
