Our Mission

Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the UMass Chan Facilities Management team has one essential mission: to provide the dependable, high-quality infrastructure that is the foundation of all activities on our campuses in Worcester and Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.

With some 6 million square-feet of built space, set on 267 acres of land, used by 10,000 people every day, we have a large and complex set of conditions to manage, maintain and improve.  To accomplish this mission, we have a talented team with experience across all the disciplines of facilities engineering, construction, maintenance, management, power and control systems, environmental quality and sustainability.

Each member of our team brings their unique abilities to the mission, but we are all focused on the common goal. From the life-saving demands of a Level One Trauma Center, to the scientific breakthroughs in our research laboratories, to educating the next generation of physicians, nurses and biomedical scientists, it is the work of our institution that drives our Facilities Management team towards excellence.
